Olympians Love Kelowna Triathlon

Kelowna has many outstanding sporting events, but few events include participants competing on the Olympic level.

For the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, Canada has sent 5 triathletes to compete for medals: Gold and silver medalist Simon Whitfield, as well as team mates Kyle Jones, Brent McMahon, Paula Findlay and Kathy Tremblay. All of these triathletes on the Canadian Olympic team have competed at the Kelowna Apple Triathlon in the last 10 years.

A recent article in the Kelowna Daily Courier by MLA Steve Thompson emphasizes the fact that the Kelowna Apple Triathlon has been a training ground for Olympians. It also encourages the community (athletes, family members, friends, non-athletes etc.) to support this event by volunteering for one of the many shifts we have still available.

Check out the article from MLA Steve Thompson below.

MLA'S Report: Apple Triathlon a training ground for Olympians- By Steve Thomson - Kelowna Capital News -You’ve heard the expression “more than the sum of its parts.” When it comes to the Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon, that’s literally true.

Thanks to Steve for the outstanding article.
