It is hard to believe that this the 30th time the Kelowna Apple Triathlon has been run in Kelowna, and what is even more amazing is the 600+ volunteers that donate their time to fill the 1,000 positions from Thursday to Sunday.
If this is the first year you are considering helping us make this event a success, here are some key areas we need volunteers:
Bike Course Marshals
Our cyclists can travel at speeds of 30-40km per hour in some areas of the bike course. Although the course is closed, there are many areas that traffic and pedestrians can cross, and marshalls are essential for athlete safety.
If your home is on the bike course, you can walk to your position, set up your lawn chair, and enjoy the race.
Run Course Marshals
The run portion of the race is the last part of event.
In the down town area, race marshals direct racers to keep on the course, monitor traffic as it crosses the course and provide encouragement to the athletes.
Venue Set Up Crew
The event site is set up on Thursday night, and set up continues all day Friday. Members of the crew help with the setting up of tents, signage, the beer garden and the finish line.
Most of the work is done by Friday 7 pm, but final preparations are still being done on Saturday morning from 5 am to 7 am.
Venue Take Down Crew
Once the race is done on Sunday, it is time to take everything down. Tables, chairs, tents ... everything has to be taken down so Kelowna downtown streets can be open at 7pm on Sunday.
And there is more ...
These are just a few ideas of areas we need your help for 2012 Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon.
Volunteer on your own, or have your friends sign up at the same time and volunteer together.

Thanks again for all your help and support. With you events like the Kelowna Apple Triathlon would not be possible.
