The Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon hosting the 2009 Canadian National Triathlon Championships continued in full force under ideal weather conditions in Kelowna today.
Eric Danielson of Lethbridge was the Junior Elite male winner and finished the 750m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run in 58.02. Competition was very strong with Lesser Carlos of Cancun in second place in 58.08. Third place went Pascal Begin-Nose of Vancouver in 1:00:28.
The female Junior Elite was won by Hilary Wille of Victoria in 51:44. Gabriela Bolanos was 2nd in 52.30 with Elsabet Lapointe 3rd in 54:55. Paula Findlay 2007 and 2008 winner in the female Junior Elite did not compete in the event this year. Wille had a great swim in 9:28 and was also fastest on the bike leg. Lapointe had the fastest run leg.
Hilary currently lives and trains in Victoria at the National Training Center. Prior to competing in the sport of triathlon, Hilary was one of the best junior national swimmers in Canada.
A great performance by all athletes.
