After two or more hours of grueling competition, nothing is quite as satisfying as juicy pieces of watermelon. What about an ice cold Gatorade or a refreshing Coke? Other than the Okanagan’s winning scenery and safe race courses, good food is one of the most important parts to a successful race.
This is why the Apple Triathlon Society is excited to announce that Quality Greens is again our official food sponsor for 2010. Chris and Lisa Holmes and the staff at Quality Greens will be providing all athletes in the competition with healthy, nutritious snacks, and it is due to sponsors like Quality Greens that the Apple Triathlon tradition has been going strong for 28 years.
"What a great opportunity to support the local community," says Chris Holmes, owner of Quality Greens, "I want to thank Richard Montgomery, president of the Apple Triathlon Society, for approaching Quality Greens for the support."
Quality Greens Contribution to the 2009 Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon:
· Served approximately 400 pounds of bananas, 700 pounds of watermelon, around 1500 cookies and around 600 muffins.
· Coordinated and provided pretzels, coke, cookies and muffins at the aid stations.
· Fifteen staff volunteered their time over the weekend.
So what can you expect for 2010? Chris and Lisa and the team at Quality Greens are planning to have a food display even larger than last year. In addition, four members of their staff have decided to participate in the 2010 Kelowna Apple Triathlon. Now that is dedication!
